Belle the dog seemed to have a debilitating and severe skin disease. hey realized quickly that the bumps on her body weren’t bumps, they were ticks. What a way for this sweet homeless tick-covered dog to get rescued.
In South Africa’s Johannesburg, CLAW, or Community Led Animal Welfare, rescuers were phoned to pick up Belle. This dog came from an extremely careless home. The pitiful young dog had been fighting an unwilling host. It was the dreadful pesky ticks , and Belle this sweet dog was on the brink of death.
Belle was weak and anemic, and she was in a battle with tick fever.
Belle The Tick-Covered Dog Gets Rescued
To get emergency medical care, they rushed Belle to the vet. Ticks are a very common plague in different parts of the world, although Belle’s body’s tick invasion was jaw-dropping.
Thousands of ticks were on her. The ticks had crusted her soft limps ears over the outside and swarmed inside. They latched on her eyelids, turning it into a difficulty for her to see. These ticks were blown up with her blood. They’ed been living off of her blood for such a long time. These pests had to rely on the veins and arteries in the soft areas on her face. It was the thin-skinned that continue surviving.
The tick infestation had been so extreme that it was not possible for the clinic staff to remove the ticks one by one. The parasites had taken much of Belle’s blood that she would lose too much blood and die if the team tried to remove the ticks one by one.
So instead, they gave Belle powerful antiparasitic drugs.
Rescue Dog Transformed
A few days after she started her aggressive treatment, the ticks began to detach from her skin and fall off after the medication paralyzed the ticks. Once the mass exodus began, the infections on her skin left behind by the ticks were treated by the clinic staff.
Due to her being malnourished, she was also given a special diet to give Belle a big boost of vitamins that she needed. It is amazing to find people who will track down this tick-covered dog to get rescued.
She was growing healthier, although slowly. Her fur became silky and bright. And suddenly her fur started growing back over the bare or mottled parts of her skin that were left by the ticks.
Belle became a happy, healthy pup, and under CLAW’s affection and dedicated care, her true nature started to shine.
We are so happy that Belle the rescue dog is now, as she deserves to be, healthy and loved in her forever home.
